Hi, I’m Dan Weiser

Farmer. Businessperson. Climate Activist. Herbalist. Humanist.

I’ve never been one for the rat race. I like things steady, rooted. That mindset led me to spend over 20 years working with my family at Weiser Family Farms, where growing food means staying tuned into the rhythms of the land. Nature doesn’t run on a schedule, and farming teaches you to adapt, listen, and respond. You learn quickly: if you want healthy crops, you have to care for the soil. If you want lasting abundance, you have to think long-term.

That kind of attention made me deeply aware of how fragile our climate is. For over a decade, I’ve worked with Citizens’ Climate Lobby to push for policies that protect our future. But change doesn’t only happen on Capitol Hill — it starts with how we live, what we consume, and how we show up in the world.

A turning point came when I read Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet by Thich Nhat Hanh. His message was clear: if you want to care for the world, start by caring for yourself. That insight pushed me to explore herbal medicine, not as a quick fix, but as a way to reconnect with my body, mind, and environment. Tea became my path.

Maitri Tea is rooted in this philosophy:

Care for the land. Care for yourself. Care for each other.

We believe in slow farming, clean ingredients, and blends that nourish more than just your body. We’re here to grow something meaningful — not just a product, but a practice of mindful, regenerative living.

Maitri means “loving-kindness” in Sanskrit. That’s the kind of world we’re trying to grow, one cup at a time.
