Finding Focus & Energy After 60: Why I Created Samadhi Root

As I approach my 67th birthday, I’ve noticed a change in my energy levels and concentration. Tasks that used to be completed quickly now require more time. My mornings feel slower while my afternoons are a bit foggier. What a bummer. 😉

Aging brings change. It’s part of the natural process. However, I’ve realized that if I want to maintain my purpose and clarity, I will need to be more mindful of how I fuel my body and mind.

As we age, our bodies naturally produce less of the hormones and neurotransmitters that regulate energy, focus, and mood. Our stress response becomes more sensitive, and we don’t bounce back from fatigue as quickly. The pressures of modern life can make it feel like we’re moving through fog.

Caffeine, once my go-to solution, no longer felt like a solution. It left me jittery, overstimulated, and ultimately more tired than before. I needed something that provided steady energy, mental clarity, and support from the inside out.

In response to this need, I developed a blend of herbs that I now drink daily: Samadhi Root.

This tea was born from my years of working with herbs, studying their effects, and simply listening to what my body was telling me. I wanted something deeply nourishing that would work with my body, not against it.

Samadhi Root is a caffeine-free herbal tonic made from grounding, time-honored herbs such as:

  • Astragalus and Eleuthero: adaptogens that support energy and resilience

  • Ginger and Cinnamon: for warmth, digestion, and circulation

  • Gotu Kola and Peppermint: to gently lift mental clarity and brighten focus

  • Licorice root: to harmonize the blend and support adrenal health

It’s become a peaceful, nourishing ritual for me. I simmer a pot of tea in the morning and sip it throughout the day. There are no sudden spikes or crashes—just a steady sense of being present and capable.

One of the blessings of aging is clarity. Clarity about what truly matters, what works, and what doesn’t. I’ve come to realize that energy isn’t just about exerting more. It’s about aligning with what sustains us: nourishing food, gentle movement, meaningful work, and mindful nourishment.

Samadhi Root is one way I support myself now; not to resist aging, but to move with it, wisely and gently.

If you’re finding that your energy isn’t what it used to be, or your mind feels foggy more often than not, this tea might be helpful. It’s not a magical solution; it’s a companion. One cup at a time.

You can find Samadhi Root on maitritea.com, along with other blends designed to support well-being at every stage of life. I invite you to try it, and to carve out a few quiet moments each day just for yourself.

Let it be more than just a cup of tea; let it be a ritual of presence.
